Hello, there! I’m still playing along with Kirsty’s Creative Space project, and this week I’d like to give you a tour of my desk-ish area.
I tend to do a lot of my creating elsewhere in the house, because I like to sit on the couch with my feet up and some TV on while I embroider or knit. But when I’m doing something more focused, like stamp carving or (machine) sewing or other things that require a stable surface, this is where I spend my time.
When it’s not being used for projects, my desk holds mostly office-y things and computer-y things. In the drawer you’ll find paperclips and Post-It Notes, my Wacom tablet, memory cards, and other such necessities.
On top: Vintage jars holding mostly vintage buttons and spools. A peacock-fabric lavender sachet, my pincushion/scrap sack, and my “creativity rocks” that I found in a shop years ago. My daughter likes to scatter my pens everywhere and drop the rocks into the windowsill behind the desk so that I have to crawl around on the floor looking for them.
Underneath there’s a shelf that holds the wastebasket, a fabric-covered box with fabric scraps, and a large, open bin that holds overflow yarns and wips. I use an upholstered stool that used to be in our living room as my seat. It was a temporary thing, but now I’ve grown to like it that way, and my daughter finds it handy for climbing onto my desk.
Yup. That’s my desk. I feel like I should end with a more attractive photo, but that’s all I got. Tada!
