Last fall I made a little felt mailbox for my daughter. She loves to get mail, so we have filled the mailbox with a collection of cards she’s received as well as other fun things.
Once I’d made the mailbox, I always intended to make some felt mail to go with it. Better late than never, right? Finally, almost a full year later, I can cross this one off my list.
I used some stiff but thin felt that I found at a craft store, and I used my rotary cutter to cut it to size. I considered using embroidery and applique but ended up just drawing everything with my Micron pens. I tried to keep it child-like and fun as I went.
So we have a tri-fold letter, a birthday card, three postcards, and two envelopes.
And the coolest part is that I also made little stamps and address labels and salutation labels so each piece can be customized as she sees fit. They are backed with hook and loop dots that stick right to the felt mail.
All of these little bits hang out on a scrap piece of felt when they’re not in use.
My daughter is particularly impressed with the stamps. She calls them “pictures” and carries them around in a stack. I’m just impressed that I actually finished this project!

This is such a cute project! I know my son would love something like this. Thanks for the idea!!
