Well, that blog break got rather extended, didn’t it? I am still here, just in slow motion and a little wrapped up in other things. I’ve given up my hopes of opening the shop to coincide with my one-year blog anniversary. Circumstances have conspired against me, and it’s just not possible, so instead I’m slowly chipping away at the to-do list and taking it as I go. Better that way, I think.
Anyway, I wanted to pop in briefly with a belated Creative Space post. How’s this for a creative spot?
This little guy probably has strange dreams about needles and thread as I stitch over his head while he naps.
Right now I’m working on a new series of pieces that involve buttons. Finally, a good use for all the vintage and reclaimed buttons that have been gathering in the large jar on the shelf!
There’s nothing better than a warm quilt to snuggle in while working on a button-and-thread project. The one you see on my lap and under the embroidery was made by Hubby’s aunt in postage-stamp style. According to the label, it has 2,860 individual pieces in it. It was a wedding present, which means we’ve had it for over eight years, and it’s still one of my favorites.
It’s getting chillier here, and I’m feeling more and more ready to wear cozy sweaters and walk through crunchy leaves and hole up on the sofa with some good projects. I won’t make any promises, but I am hopeful that I’ll be back Monday with more to share!
(And if you haven’t already caught up on them all, check out kootoyoo for all the creative inspiration to be found this week.)

Oh my, how sweet is that napping young fella :). That takes me back a few years!
Love those red buttons!!! And the quilt is beautiful.
I think that’s about the best crafting place of all, although I was never able to craft when my kiddo napped because I invariably fell asleep too ;-).

Char.
I’m sure if he’s dreaming about needle and thread it’s a good dream about the magical things you create.
It’s funny being on the otherside of the world. The weather is warming up here (even though we are still experiencing the odd cold spring day) and as much as I’m enjoy the flowers and mild sunshine I’m not looking forward to the hot summer! I am very tempted to fly over to visit you and sit under that gorgeous quilt!

written on October 3rd, 2009, at 5:57 pmIt’s lovely to watch them sleeping, isn’t it!
Looks like some delightful creativity going on in your part of the world.
written on October 4th, 2009, at 7:11 amOh I miss naps. My girl stopped taking them at two yrs. old. I still get wistful thinking about them.
I love buttons, especially in old tins or jars, like treasure!
Can’t wait to see what you are creating.
Good luck on the shop, I know it takes a lot of time. I’m still trying to sort mine out in the way I want it to be. I will be excited to see yours up and running!
