On Sunday my little guy had a fever, so I kept him at home while my husband and daughter went to church. Because the baby was sick, he ended up sleeping a good chunk of the morning, and I was granted the very rare opportunity to experience a totally quiet house at an hour when I was actually awake and energetic enough to accomplish things. And so, aha! There’s my third button girl!
This is Lucy. I didn’t start out with the intention of making her look so childlike, but there was just something about the way the shape of her face evolved as I stitched. (I do a rough sketch on the fabric and then stitch it more or less freehand.) So I think Lucy is our junior button lady, Liz’s daughter and Evelyn’s granddaughter. She likes her bright red beads because they match her bubbly personality, and when she’s wearing them she can feel fancy like Mama and Gran.
It’s a nice little series, I think. And yes, to those who were wondering, these gals will be available in my shop when it opens. I’m aiming for next week, fingers crossed!
After I finished Lucy, I had plenty of time left to take photos for a little lacing tutorial. In fact, I took many, many photos so I can be as detailed as possible. That means a whole lot of touching up in Photoshop, so I’d better get to work if I want to be back tomorrow for Tutorial Tuesday! Stay tuned!

What a lovely set! Glad you got some time to yourself :) Quite nice when projects take on a life of their own – very organic! Hope your little one is better :)
