What a Lucky Girl Am I

Isn’t it great fun to get creative goodies, especially when they come from someone who knows how much you’ll love them?

My aunt, who is a talented knitter and spinner of wool, among other things, brought me a pound of dried lavender buds from a fair in Rhinebeck, NY. It smells so wonderful. And, as lavender buds are quite lightweight, a pound of the stuff is going to last me a very, very long time. Imagine all the sachets!

But wait, you say, what is that under the lavender? Is it a quilt? A “stacked coins” quilt with beautiful colors and fabrics? And gorgeous swirly quilting? And lots of love stitched into it?

Why yes, yes it is.

Stacked Coins

My mother-in-law finished it and delivered it to us yesterday. It’s just beautiful. I can’t stop looking at it. She chose the fabrics she thought I’d like, and although I helped finalize the picks a little, she was pretty much right on the money. I love the combination of colors and so many beautiful prints.

Talented, isn’t she?

Hmmm. Maybe we’ll feel jump-started to actually do something to decorate our room. It’s the only one in the house that remains untouched three years on. How could we not, with such a lovely inspiration?

yes, why is it that the master bedroom is the last room to get all prettied up? we’ve been in our house for over 4 years now and the walls are still plain and boring. hubby and i are going to do our best to spruce things up in there before the end of the year.

and that quilt, words can’t express how gorgeous it is. your MIL is so talented and i hope y’all cherish that quilt forever and have sweet dreams under it.
