Another Pause

I got nothin’. To be honest, it’s mostly because I’m doing a fat lot of nothing when it comes to the creative area of my life. It’s pretty poor timing considering the gift-giving season is approaching and I’m trying to get a shop started. It’s just the season I’m in, I guess. My leaves are changing colors and falling off the branches. (See? All I have for you is cheesy metaphors. Ha!)

Fall Snapshots

I told myself I wouldn’t open the shop until I had a few patterns available. Unfortunately, I haven’t been so successful at finding a way to do that that I’m happy with. I’ve wasted way too much time trying (unsuccessfully) to avoid purchasing new software, and then I just got tired of the whole thing and pretended it wasn’t there. And I just felt too sluggish or uninterested in my other projects to tackle those, either. Hmmm. I’m just tired in general, I think.

There is hope, though. I am waiting for a used version of Adobe Illustrator to arrive in the mail, and I’m confident that will be the answer to my pattern-making tribulations. And I suspect that getting a pattern or two done will re-energize me and spur me on to the next creative frenzy, which is always way more fun (and exhausting in a different kind of way) than the slumps. You know how that goes, right?

Fall Snapshots (3)

I think I maybe be disappearing for a little bit longer before I resume more regular posting. In the meantime, I hope you’ll enjoy a few photos from a recent drive into the mountains. The leaves started turning a little late this year, but now they’re beginning to get beautiful. I’m slightly amazed the photos turned out as good as they did considering I was snapping them while the car was in motion!

‘Til next time, my friends!

Feels like I’m right there with you. I got nothin’. Illustrator is on my dream list, I am not holding my breath. All I posted today was a picture of me in my socks, brilliant! I am awaiting some sort of epiphany or at least a little gumption. It will come in time – to us both. Love the lovely photos. Take care

The photos were just what I needed this morning. Take care, enjoy your break, and we’ll “see” you when you get back. Oh, and have a dish of something sweet and not-so-good for you! :-)

(I should note that the version of Illustrator I’m getting is a few generations old, so I got it for a very good deal on eBay. It is enough to perform the basic functions I need, and upgrades are also available on eBay, so I figure I’ll slowly work my way toward the newer stuff. If you want to try Illustrator, this might be the trick for you too!)

    Beautiful pictures :).

My (limited) experience is that creativity ebbs and flows. When mine ebbs, that’s usually when I do lots of reading and movie/tv watching for a while. Roll with it, baby ;-).

Hi Gretchen – I have sent you a bit of a ‘crazy’ e-mail! On reading your post, it might not be the best suggestion, but there’s no hurry to respond or decide :) I hope you’re feeling a little more ‘energized’ soon – I’m amazed at how much you manage to do at all! Lovely pics :) Speak soon x
