The hiss of a hot iron meeting damp fabric. The metallic sound of the shears, the whir of the rotary cutter. The swish of scraps and thread being brushed to the side. I’ve had a lot of prep work lately because I’ve been turning out Christmas gifts like a madwoman.
I’m making good progress, but it’s looking less and less likely I’ll be able to stock the shop much at all before Christmas. I think next year I’m going to start gift-making in January.
Anyway, this week in my space we have tiny mystery WIPs.
And what’s in this stack, I wonder?
Also, this time I decided not to sweep away the mess before taking the photos, just to bust the myth that I am always tidy. My messes may be small, but they’re still there!
This is especially the case when I am totally winging a project, as that usually involves hacking my way through it and making a tangle of it.
More messy and not-so-messy spaces at kootoyoo.

I totally ditto the gift making in January. But it seems my most creative ideas come about Dec 5. So, best to you on this Christmas, and good luck on the next one also

I like the idea of starting stuff early in the year, but when that time is actually here I have no interest in doing things Christmas-related!! May you have better success than I :).
written on December 9th, 2009, at 12:34 pmGood luck with the projects! The idea of starting very early next year with thinking about Christmas gifts is such a good one- I will try to as well- I made a ‘Christmas painting’ to make cards with it and I made a mistake and dropped too much acrylic medium on it a week after I had finished it! and now I will be unable to use it to print cards with it or sell it! So next year I should also be prepared for ‘unforseen accidents’ too!!!

Winging, hacking and messy…. sounds perfect Gretchen!
written on December 11th, 2009, at 12:52 amLove the bright colors! I should be making like a mad woman but, I’m pottering around like I haven’t a care in the world. The last minute pressure usually brings out the production in me. Best of luck with all your mystery.
