Have you noticed that once people know you’re the crafty type, they start finding things for you? Every so often a family member will present me with some item of interest, often something vintage or passed down from a mother or grandmother. I think they know I will cherish them for their history or make good use of them.
I’ve gotten quite a few fun “finds” lately, and I thought I might share some of those things with you, since I know you’ll love them too. So I’m introducing a new series of Friday posts, written in minimal, weekend-style, can’t-be-bothered-with-too-many-words prose. I hope you’ll enjoy!

My maternal great grandmother’s pin cushion. One corner of the square was cut off at an angle and stitched shut. I’m not sure if this cushion was just made from scraps or if it met some destructive fate and had to be repaired. It’s full of pokey pins that got pushed inside the cushion.

Oh, I love this! This reminds me of things I found from my Mother’s and Aunt’s belongings, such as the gourd that was used when darning socks.

how very lucky you are to have this keepsake! My dad recently gave me his mother’s old dusting cap. It is a silly thing, but a mundane textile object from her daily life and it is very special to me.
Happy weekend.
