I think Resurrection Fern’s covered stones are beautiful. They’re so small and simple-yet-complex and delicate. So I decided to try my hand at one.
I started out fiddling with some doily patterns, but they weren’t right, and I finally said to myself, “You’ve been crocheting for 20 plus years. I’m pretty sure you could just make this up as you go.” So I did, and it worked.
I gave this one to our exchange student’s family, who were visiting from Germany. I wanted them to have something that was small enough to fit in their overstuffed bags on the plane, but something special that was a reminder of us. The stone comes from our garden, and of course the handmade bit was something of “us,” too.
(I also made a teensy little drawstring pouch to hold the stone.)
We’ll be leaving for the beach on Sunday, and even though my cousin will be house-sitting, I’m not going to ask her to write my blog posts for me, as much as that might be nice for me! So I’ll be missing for a bit, but I’ll be back in a week, maybe with some crochet-covered seashells to show off. See you in a week!

How lovely!!
