Last week I did a load of stitching. One of the pieces is a wedding gift, and I’ll be able to show that to you next week. The other piece is a secret, and though I’m dying to show it off, it’ll have to wait until after Christmas. So how about some more zipper pouches instead?
In keeping with my goal to work on at least one Christmas present (or set of gifts) each month to save me the huge end-of-year rush, I whipped up a bunch of these over the course of a couple days. I have a list of people who get little things like this from me each year, and since the pouches are so simple to make, I was able to cross off the entire list in one swoop. Ahhhh! (That’s a satisfied letting out of air!)
They’re only about 3.5″ x 5.5″ rectangular, and about 2″ tall, so they’re the perfect little containers for small accessories. (They’re also perfect for using up smallish bits of stash fabric. All I added was a bit of interfacing and some new zips and I had everything I needed.)
I also happened on a fabric print I really like and decided to make a little pouch for myself at the end.
(Is it unfair that by the time I got to making mine, I’d worked out all the kinks in the process and it ended up being the best one I made?)
I’ve been really drawn to this color combination lately, maybe just because I’ve seen a lot of it out “there,” or maybe just because I like it. (I did make a necklace with the same combination last year, before I was really digging it, so maybe my subconscious knew something I didn’t!)
If you want to see photos of the other individual pouches and closeups of their fabrics, you can of course visit my flickr page.
And on that note, kiddos, I’ve got more stitching to do, and, oh yes, maybe a little real life living, too. Until next time….

Oh I just love these!! Did you make up the pattern yourself or did you find it somewhere? Would love to make one of these for holding baby-wipes etc!

Now that is very smart and a great idea! My sister has already started her christmas shopping!
