Yesterday was Independence Day here in the U.S., and we had our first cookout with family and friends at the new house. We had good food, corn hole, and inflatable water slides at the neighborhood party next door. The evening ended with a huge fireworks display in our neighbor’s backyard. All in all, a success.
I like to keep it simple when it comes to decorating for parties, but I did throw together some quick red, white, and blue items for the table. I thought I’d share the idea here, since it really can be used with any color you like for other festivities.
I started with one of my favorite all-purpose kitchen items, the mason jar. (Those things are so multi-functional!) Then I simply cut some ribbon to the right length, put double-sided tape every few inches on the ribbon, and wrapped it around the jar.
Instant festive utensil holder! (Apologies for the grainy photos.)
You can use the same technique with a bowl for holding munchies, if you like. When you’re done, peel everything back off and you’ve got your everyday stuff back.
Like I said, simple. I hope those of you in the States had a safe and happy Fourth!

Now that is adorable! I like that and will use that idea for my next get-together, whatever it may be!
