Carrying Spring

Last week I posted this drawing on Facebook, with the observation that I hadn’t really planned to draw it, it had just come out. That doesn’t happen too often with me, but it was nice to be drawing just for the enjoyment of it, and I don’t mind what came of it. Then, while watching the Olympics one evening, I added some watercolors, and here you have it.

A friend suggested I may be longing for spring, and given that the snow is so high that it’s beginning to take some real effort to shovel the new layer up to the top of the piles, she may very well be right.

(On a side note, isn’t it interesting how the camera angle changed the look of the drawing? The girl is much more elongated in the first version, and the viewer’s perspective changes.)

I feel like that girl you illustrated, longing for that scent of a rose. Lovely work, Gretchen :)
