H-Town

Well, I had to take a little break there for a “real” work project. At the end of last year I decided to return to book editing (my profession from The Time Before I Had Kids) on a part-time, freelance basis. Being a freelancer gives me a lot of flexibility, and I often have a good bit of time off between projects, but every so often I have to put the creative stuff aside and buckle down for a serious chunk of time, and this was one of those times. While I’m regrouping, I thought I’d share this drawing that my almost-seven-year-old made. I have to admit that I’m a little bit jealous of this one. As in, I wish I’d drawn it myself. I think it’s really great.

    Hi Gretchen,
This is great. Your kids are going to take after you in artistic talent.
I just found this blog. I am always on mixed media blogs that slop paint and paper and the kitchen sink down, so I have missed your fine art one.
I didn’t know you did editing. I have a friend, Angela Shears that freelance edits books.
God bless you in this new change in your life.

Love you kids drawing. The lovely thing about the way childrem draw is inhibited. When we get big we sometimes over think creativity and lose that spontaneous spark this picture clearly has x
