Tiptoe Through the Tulips

Spring has sprung, and Jane Ann, well, she’s just a-hangin’ out.

I’m off for the Big Birthday Party Weekend, to finish up preparations and whip up a “little brother gift” for my son. Once the dust has settled, I’ll get around to showing you some of the things I’ve been up to over the last two weeks, promise.

In the meantime, don’t forget to take a few moments to sit amongst the tulips and dream.

The List of Little Things

I’m in a real organizing frenzy right now. There is a List of Little Things, small messes or unimportant things-to-do, like winding spare bits of yarn into bobbins and resorting fabric stacks and making up mailing supplies and so on. I just haven’t bothered with them because they weren’t big enough to really be noticeable if I didn’t do them. I’ve been happily ignoring them for a long time. But for some unknown reason, I’ve started minding them of late, and I just feel the need to clear it all out. I actually feel like I can’t be truly creative until I do, it’s nagging me that much.

So while I’m off busying myself with the Little Things, here’s a shot of someone else exercising her creativity:

We seem to have lost Jane Ann in the midst of all the holiday preparation….

Ooops! There she is, hiding in my mother-in-law’s massive Santa collection!

P.S. You know, I just realized in that first photo all you see is wrapping paper galore after I said I don’t like to use wrapping paper. In this case, I had a roll left over from previous years and wanted to use it up, but I promise there are also lots of gift bags and kid-painted wrapping paper buried in there too!

Oof. Am stuffed full of good food and a little dizzy from exhaustion. (But thankful for Thanksgiving all the same!)

Jane Ann thought I could use an extra hand, what with all the scrambling to get Christmas gifts completed and such.

Hey, look what I found in the mailbox!

After The Great Hard Drive Crash of Aught-Nine, I thought I’d lost a lot of important things. And I did, in fact, lose several documents, some difficult-to-recover passwords, and several months’ worth of photos and videos of my children. But I still have Jane Ann, who I’m certain you will agree is equally as important. Now we can all breathe a little easier knowing that Freaky Friday lives on.

Summer’s End

Since right now it’s pretty much wips galore around here (I am making respectable progress at the moment thanks to my hubby), it’s time for … Freaky Friday! Back, by popular demand, is the ever lovely Jane Ann.

She is enjoying the last days of Summer because she’s sure to get chilly in the Autumn air, what with the lack of clothes and all.

Little Petal

Oh, yes, I forgot to mention that I finished the “Petal’s Edge” embroidery. It’s now a small pillow. I used a pre-made bias tape with piping and a cheerful cotton for the backing. Quite pleased with myself now. :)

Just Jane Ann

Some time ago, my husband’s grandmother came across a doll that she had at her house, and she thought my daughter might like it. She sent it to my in-laws’ house so it could be played with there. My mother-in-law named the doll Jane Ann, and my daughter really likes her.

My sister-in-law, however, is not a fan of Jane Ann. She finds her a little creepy. And because I like to torment my sister-in-law (who is a very talented artist and a lot of fun, to boot), I started taking photos of Jane Ann to send to her. Trust me, she loves it. She may not say so, but I know she does!
